"A Yachtsmen show is a majestic place where luxury is standard."

- MVM3

Yachtsmen are facilitators...cruise directors, if you will. Hailing back to a time when men wore their hair long, their shirts open and their shoes comfortable whilst sailing into a sun-filled seascape in search of smooth rockin’ good times, The Yachtsmen play songs and share stories that provide a canvas meant for the broad strokes of love, revelry and debauchery.

We've all heard about the genre of music called "yacht rock," which has been rediscovered by hipsters in the past few years. It was created in the mid-to-late '70s and ran its course by around 1984. This is the kind of laid-back, hedonistic "lifestyle music" that lends itself to balmy happy hours on the beach and lots of afternoon sex. Think Michael McDonald-era Doobies, late-'70s Kenny Loggins, Boz Scaggs, Pablo Cruise, Little River Band and Christopher Cross—to name just a very few. The best of it was jazzy, funky and vocally very lush.

High-energy renditions of classic songs from The Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan, Kenny Loggins, Ambrosia, et al, are masterfully navigated by a crew that boasts musical affiliations with some of Portland’s finest; Wheels in the Sky (a Journey Tribute), Excellent Gentlemen, International Male, Intervision, Joey Porter FunkTributes, Steely Dawn and many more.
